  2. Thanks for your comment!
I'll try to create a tutorial for that. In the meantime, I'd recommend reading the Help files (found in the Help > Cheetah3D Help menu item). Alternatively, I cover some aspects of what you're asking in my post "Texture Overlay in Cheetah3D."

  3. Hi, for the dice tutorial, I don't understand how to set the sections to 5, even after I make it editable... :/

  4. You need to set the sections BEFORE you make the object editable. Do you know where to set those options?

  5. OK, they are in the Properties panel—to the upper-right od the C3D window by default. They are the options labeled Sections X, Sections Y, and Sections Z. If you need more help, send me an email.

I read with interest your review of Photoshop CS6 3D features as I'm interested in learning 3D myself (I'm a photographer but would like to be able to do 3D renders of objects, eg laptops, phones, the kind of generic render you would see in a stock library)

What is the best 3d package to get started with as an absolute beginner with this objective in mind.
    thanks
    David

    1. I'd say that, given your goal is rendering, if you use a Mac, I'd start with Cheetah3D. Blender is a great (and free) option, but it has a steeper learning curve. Sketchup is great, but IMO it lacks proper rendering capabilities. Also, I think there are some trimmed versions of Autodesk's programs, something called 1 2 3D. I don't know much about them, but it seems that rendering is a bit limited. Please send me an email if you need more in-depth advice.

  8. Hi! I incorporated Cycles and Blender tutorials as one category. It's not like Cycles exists outside of Blender :)
